METZENBAUM U.S. COURTHOUSE

The $44.6 million rehabilitation of the Metzenbaum U.S. Courthouse is an exemplary model for preservation and adaptive reuse of an historic landmark. Selected by the GSA under the Design Excellence program, Westlake Reed Leskosky has renovated this national architectural treasure to meet new requirements for function, efficiency, accessibility, sustainability and security. Incorporating current LEED standards, the 235,600-square-foot building will house the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts with four courtrooms, chambers and support areas. The project features a five-level in-fill Light Court solving circulation issues, and the reinstallation of restored murals by American artist F.D. Millet.
